Principal: Vicki Kalina Marvin
(vickimarvin@churchofstdominic.org)
Welcome to St. Dominic School! My name is Vicki Kalina Marvin and I am the Principal. I began my time at St. Dominic School as a student, several years later I returned as a teacher, and now I have the opportunity to serve in this challenging and rewarding leadership role. My dedication to Catholic education played out through my college years as I received my B.A. degree from College of St. Benedict and my Master’s degree from St. Mary’s. I obtained my principal licensure from MSU Mankato. This year I will continue to lead efforts to enhance curriculum, meet individual students’ needs, and strengthen and create community relationships.
Secretary: Jane Bartho
(janebartho@churchofstdominic.org)
I am Administrative Assistant, AKA ‘Secretary!’ I had 3 children attending St. Dominic School not so very long ago and I am very excited to be a part of the school, too! After receiving my Social Work degree from St. Cloud State University, I worked in Health Care Centers and managed care. Upon moving to the Northfield area and starting our family, I started my own business: Daycare! After 8 years of daycare, and having my youngest child begin Kindergarten, I feel fortunate to be able to transition from daycare and into a role of helping serve our school. So here I am! I look forward to helping all of you. Please ask me if you have any questions and I will do my best to find an answer. The school is warm and welcoming, please join us to make it the best school we can for our kids.
Preschool Teacher 3 – 4 year olds: Nancy Hensch
(nancyhensch@churchofstdominic.org)
I am very excited to be teaching the 3′s and 4′s class. I graduated from South Dakota State University with a degree in Early Childhood Education. For the past 14 years, I have been teaching ages 3 through 5 at Easter Preschool in Eagan. I will continue there on M, W, F, and will be at St. Dominic Preschool on T and Th mornings.
My Husband and I live in Farmington. We have 2 children ages 13 and 9. In my free time I enjoy quilting, reading and family time.
I love the enthusiasm and excitement 3/4 year olds bring to the classroom and I look forward to meeting the families of St. Dominic.

erinhall@churchofstdominic.org
I graduated from Northfield High School in 2004 and attended Saint Catherine University in Saint Paul where I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education with a specialty in Pre-Primary. I grew up in Webster and attended Holy Cross Catholic School until eighth grade. Last year I substitute taught in the Northfield Public School district and before that I was a Preschool teacher in Prior Lake. I am excited to be teaching at Saint Dominic and look forward to meeting the students and families!
Preschool Aide: Mary Langan
I adore children and it seems that just about every job I have ever had has been working with young children in some capacity. I am also excited about being a part of the first Christian preschool in Northfield.
I grew up in Northfield and attended St. Dominic School. I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree from the College of St. Benedict, earning a teaching license in Elementary and Early Childhood Education. My teaching experiences include preschools, Head Start, daycare and I have taught 1st and 3rd grades, and substituted. I have directed the Religious Education program at St. Dominic.
My husband, John, and I have 4 children, 3 attend school here now. Our oldest recently graduated 8th grade. I love music, playing piano and singing in the Joyful Noise contemporary music group at church.
Thank you for the gift of your children. They bless my heart and I am honored to be working with them.
Preschool and Kindergarten Aide: Peter Hagenson
I’m happy to be here this year as a preschool and kindergarten aide. I’m a Northfield native and former St. Dominic student. After graduating from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, OR, I spent time teaching English to a variety of age levels in Ecuador and Chile. I’ve enjoyed every opportunity I’ve had to work with children and am looking forward to getting to know the kids and parents of St. Dominic school.
Kindergarten: Becky McGillivray
(beckymcgillivray@churchofstdominic.org)
I graduated from Northfield High School in 2004, and then attended the University of Minnesota Duluth. I graduated with a dual licensure in Early Childhood (birth to third grade) and Special Education. Two of my three student teaching experiences were in kindergarten, and kindergarten has been my dream job since I was a little girl! The honesty of this age, the desire to learn and the social growth are extremely intriguing to me as an educator. I am greatly delighted to be surrounded by teachers, families, and a community that are so supportive.
Kindergarten Aide: Shellly Johnson
I am so happy to be able to work with this group of teachers and students! I have an 8th grade graduate and a 5th grader at St. Dominic this year, and I’ve been in the classrooms as a volunteer for many years. I am currently going to school myself working toward a Bachelor of Science Degree at Northwestern College in Roseville. I’m looking forward to working with Miss McGillivray and the Kindergartners this year!
1st Grade: Ashley Warrick
(ashleywarrick@churchofstdominic.org)
I graduated from the University of Minnesota, Duluth where I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. I am currently working toward my Masters degree in Differentiated Instruction through Concordia University; I will graduate in June of 2012! One of the many reasons I love to teach is the anticipation a new day brings. When working with children, everyday presents itself with something new and challenging. Knowing that I am able to motiviate children and make them believe they can learn is quite empowering! One of the things we do in the 1st grade classroom is learn about many different cultures – we travel to places around the world such as China, India, Japan, and the land down under. Being a part of the St. Dominic Family is nothing I have ever experienced at any other educational institute. We’re a family, the support is amazing and because of the class sizes, children foster friendships that are sure to last a lifetime!
2nd Grade: Janet Sletten
(janetsletten@churchofstdominic.org)
When I was a student at St. Dominic School, I so greatly admired my teachers that I wanted to be a teacher like them.
I have taught many grades at St. Dominic School and I have enjoyed all of them. There are so many rewarding times in teaching. It is a wonderful feeling to watch them learn to read and to love reading.
As the second grade teacher, I teach First Reconciliation and First Eucharist. As I watch my students embrace their faith as young children, my hope is that they become life long, faith filled Catholics.
St. Dominic School teaches the whole child, their minds, bodies, and spirit.
3rd Grade: Cindy Green
(cindygreen@churchofstdominic.org)
Hi! I am excited to be the Third Grade teacher. I graduated from the College of St. Catherine earning a Bachelor of Science degree. I have a Specialty in Middle School Social Studies. My history with St. Dominic goes back to my own childhood when I was a student here and recently all of my children have attended this school. I look forward to working with your children as we grow together to love and serve the Lord.
4th Grade: Lisa Skluzacek
(lisaskluzacek@churchofstdominic.org)
I am the Fourth Grade teacher. I attended the College of St. Benedict where I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education, and a concentration in Science. I have been teaching Fourth Grade at St. Dominic School for the last 19 years. Fourth Grade is an important year when the students make great academic and social strides. I love watching students at this level become more critical thinkers and independent in their learning. I am just as excited to start my twentieth year here as I was to begin my first. I am delighted to be starting the year with another group of students!
5th Grade: Lori Beumer
(loribeumer@churchofstdominic.org)
I have had the honor to teach here at St. Dominic School for 11 years! I attended Mankato State University where I earned my Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education. I have also received my Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a K-12 Reading Certificate from the University of St. Thomas in December 2009.
Teaching is an extremely rewarding field. As a teacher, I get to work with children, along with their parents, to educate and inspire the future. In the field of teaching we have a unique situation. We are working with human beings, small human beings, with feelings, strengths and weaknesses. We never know what kind of day we will have or just how much we will get accomplished. This is where the “art” of teaching comes in.
I believe that at St. Dominic School we are a family. We look out for one another, we learn about each other, we pray with one another and we learn together, as a family. We are able to talk about our faith all day, in all subjects, and model and celebrate our faith as a part of our daily schedule. One of my favorite times of the week is when we get to celebrate mass together as a school family. To hear the children’s voices raised in song in celebration of their faith is inspiring. We truly are educating the future of the Catholic faith!
6th Grade: Stephanie Balvin
(stephaniebalvin@churchofstdominic.org)
In March 2010, I joined the St. Dominic team as the 6th grade long term sub. Before that I have taught at all levels including Kindergarten, 2nd grade, 5th grade and 6th grade. I am a 1998 graduate from Northfield High School, and in 2002 I graduated from Bethel University in St. Paul with a degree in education. From there, I spent some time teaching in North Minneapolis before taking some time off to be at home with our 3 children. Jacob- 7, Isabelle- 5 and Andrew 4. I also spend the winter months as a Northfield High School girls’ basketball coach. I enjoy sports and any game/activity where there is a little healthy competition. I also enjoy reading, running, scrap booking, and shopping! I am so excited about this opportunity with St. Dominic, and please stop in my room this year to say hello!
7th / 8th Grade: Kelly Maroney
(kellymaroney@churchofstdominic.org)
I am excited to be a part of the Middle School program at St. Dominic as the 7th and 8th grade homeroom teacher! As a student of the first kindergarten class at St. Dominic School in 1992, I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to complete my K-8 experience within this wonderful community. Upon graduation, I attended Northfield High School and went on to obtain my teaching degree from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire. This past year, I taught English in the Czech Republic to students ages three – adult. I enjoy being active (especially outdoors), reading, and going out for coffee with friends. Working with Middle School aged students is a blessing to me, and I cannot wait to get to know everybody!
Support Teacher: Therese Kitzman
theresekitzman@churchofstdominic.org
I have been teaching at St. Dominic School since 1995. I have been given the opportunity to teach various subjects and grade levels throughout the years. This year I am a teacher in the Enrichment Room. I have always been very proud being associated with a Christian-based school, which gave my two sons and all the children who attend St. Dominic School a strong foundation for life.
Art: Kelly lynn Stanton-Nutt
(kellylynnstantonnutt@churchofstdominic.org)
I will be sharing Art with your child. Most of the students already know me as ‘Ms. Kelly’ from my days as a substitute teacher here at St. Dominic, or my work as a Girl Scout leader. I grew up in Northfield. I have three children with my husband, Rob.
The Art program is about to receive big changes…and I know your family is going to be excited to see what your child is creating in my room. We will be adding Preschool to the weekly visits to Art. The 6th, 7th and 8th grade Art elective will meet twice each week and will cover many of the same concepts as their counterparts at the Middle School.
I love to use everyday objects to make art – I think this makes Art more accessible in daily life for children, and inspires them to see the things that surround them with new purpose. I also enjoy helping kids make connections between Art and the concepts they are covering in their classrooms. They will even learn the history behind the Art they are making through samples and fun stories.

Music: Lorilee Malecha
(lorileemalecha@churchofstdominic.org)
In the Music room, we have the opportunity to be involved, be creative and be expressive through our music program. We have opportunities to sing in small and large groups, play instruments and write our own songs. I am excited to be leading this musical adventure.
Nurse: Jan Mathews
(janmathews@churchofstdominic.org)
I am here on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, but I’m glad to receive calls at home in the evening or you may contact my supervisor Elizabeth Bode, District Nurse. I am a graduate of Abbott Hospital School of Nursing and also work at Northfield Hospital. My five children attended St. Dominic and my granddaughter also attended, so I have a long-term relationship with the school and find it to be a great place!
