PARENT NEWS:

• There is no school on Monday, February 16, It is President’s Day and a Teacher Workshop day.
• Auction update: Thank you to all who have volunteered to help with the auction.  We are still in need of volunteers for setup on Friday and the night of the auction.  Any time you can donate would be greatly appreciated.  Please call Jane Runzheimer at 664-9430 if you can help.  A copy of the current schedule is enclosed, please note the time you are working.
• We have approximately 145 school families and staff.  If each one were to purchase a $20 Kwik Trip card each week for the next 10 weeks, we could easily generate $5800!  Kwik Trip cards can be used at the pump, in the store, for gas, car washes, and groceries.  If you pay inside, you can even use one CUB coupon (intended for Holiday) on your ENTIRE tank of gas…not just 12 gallons as it states.  Remember, you can use 10% toward your tuition, if you choose.  Enclosed is a form for your convenience, but it is not necessary for a gift card transaction.
• Registration information was included in last week’s packet.  In order to help us in planning for the 2009-2010 school year, please return your registration form and fee as soon as possible.  Current families in K-8 will have priority registration for 2 weeks.  Current Preschool families’ registrations will be processed before any new families.  After February 19, registrations will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis.  
• Elementary Science Fair, Saturday, 2/14 from 9-11 at the NHS cafeteria. The high school science department, in collaboration with St. Olaf and Carleton colleges, is hosting a morning of science activities for elementary students. Funding for this is being provided by an HCI grant, so this is a free event for any of your students and their parents. 
• We would like to announce a new Development Director:  Arlen Malecha. Arlen and Rachel have 2 children at St. Dominic School and he is a graduate, so he is quite familiar with the school.  He will be an asset to us all.  Welcome Arlen!
• Spring brings many opportunities for class field trips.  Remember you need to have completed VIRTUS training before spending time volunteering with the students.  Please plan ahead.  You may register for training at www.virtus.org.

STUDENT NEWS:

• There will be open gym this Saturday, February 14.  St. Dominic from 9:30 – 11:00.

LITURGY SCHEDULE:

• The 3^th grade class will be leading Mass on Thursday, February 19.
• The 2^nd grade class will be leading Mass on WEDNESDAY, February 25.  This is Ash Wednesday.
