PARENT NEWS/Reminders:

  • Many students have been asking about wearing shorts to school.  Please remember that the school recommendation is that students can wear shorts when temperatures are around 70 degrees.  This week, I told the entire student body that I would not expect to see shorts and sandals until temperatures are consistently reaching those temperatures.  There has also been discussion about girls wearing Capri pants versus boys wearing long shorts….  Please just use your best judgment.  I reminded my own boys of what the principal said during announcements!  I face the same questions you do!  J
  • The Knights of Columbus All You Can Eat Fish Fry will be held at church this Friday, from 5:00 – 8:00 pm.  The Knights support our school very generously; please consider supporting their dinner!  I am sure it will be a great one!
  • On March 27th the 7th graders will present the Stations of the Cross in mime at 10:00 am.
  • The Community Action Center has a variety of services available to low-income children and their families.  They have scholarships available for sports organizations such as soccer, baseball, softball and gymnastics.  Please see the enclosure for more details.
  • Spring Break begins Monday, March 30.  School resumes Tuesday, April 7.

  • Mark your calendars: Wednesday, March 25, the 6th grade class will present The Wizard of Oz at 7 pm in the gym.  Everyone is invited to attend!  Refreshments will be provided.  Donations will be accepted to help cover the cost.
  • There is still room in Cory Johnson’s basketball clinic.  It will be held Saturday morning, April 11.  The clinic for 4th – 7th grade girls will be 8:30 – 10:00; the clinic for 4th – 7th grade boys will be 10:30 – 12:00.  The cost is $15 per participant.  Each athlete is encouraged to bring a friend to participate.  To sign up, please call the school office at 645-8136.
  • As a service project, the 7th graders are collecting money for the local food shelf until March 27.

NURSING NOTES:

  • 6th Grade Parents: Please return your student’s immunization records as soon as the 7th grade requirements have been met.  If possible, complete this before summer vacation to avoid last minute rush and phone calls from 2 nurses.
  • Preschool Parents: Remember preschool screening is required for all students entering Kindergarten in Minnesota and we at St. Dominic follow the same guidelines.  If your child has not been screened, call Mary at 645-1200 to schedule an appointment.  I will obtain results from screening done in Northfield.  If your child is screened in another district, you will need to get the information to St. Dominic School.

LITURGY SCHEDULE:

  • The 7th Grade class will be leading Mass on Thursday, March 26.
  • The 6th Grade class will be leading a prayer service on Holy Thursday, April 9th.
