PARENT NEWS:

  • The Spring Concert is tonight at 7:00 at the church.  Please plan to arrive early and bring a dozen treats to share.
  • The annual garage sale is scheduled for May 15 and 16.  Start saving items which are in good condition!  Look at the enclosed flyer for sign up and volunteer details, return the form by May 12, 2009.
  • May Birthday Lunch will be May 6th.  It is usually the 2nd Wednesday, but it is a busy month.  Watch for your early invitation. Summer Birthdays will be celebrated Wednesday, May 20th.
  • Grandparents’ Day with a Talent Show will be Thursday, May 14, beginning at 8:20 Mass.
  • Culver’s will donate 10% of every receipt deposited this Sunday May 2nd and the first and fourth Sundays now through June.  We are looking for two sets of parents/students to represent our school and help with 2 hours of service there:  11:30 – 1:30 and 5:30 – 7:30.  Those students volunteering will receive a concrete mixer for your time!  Please see Mrs. Bartho for details.
  • Do you own your own business or offer a service others may find useful?  Are you trying to sell something or buy something from someone you know?  If so, please submit a card describing your service, business, need or sale item.  Watch for our soon-to-be created St. Dominic School family networking bulletin board and pin up a card!

STUDENT NEWS:

  • Congratulations to the 2009 Minnesota Twins Father of The Year Essay Contest winners:  Cal Irvine and Emily Malecha! Their essays were chosen as runners-up from 22,978 entries!   
  • Congratulations to Jack Linder and his parents, Jason and Nicole, on the birth of their new baby girl, Ava.  Jack is in preschool.
  • 7th grade service project: Beginning April 27, there will be a plastic bottle cap collection.  Caps from pop and water bottles, shampoo containers, etc, will be collected in a box near the office and recycled.  Normally, these caps are thrown away, so this is a good opportunity to recycle!  The collection ends May 15th.

NOTE FROM THE NURSE:

  • Reminders due to the new flu concerns:  1) Wash your hands well and often; 2) cover cough with your elbow; 3) don’t chew on non-food items – pencils, fingers, etc; 4) avoid touching face (rubbing eyes, etc); 5) if you are sick, stay home!

LITURGY LEADERS:

  • Mass will be led by the 2nd grade class on May 7th.
  • Mass will be led by multiple grades for Grandparent’s Day on May 14th.
