January 8th, 2009

PARENT NEWS:

  • Auction Reminder: We are accepting donations for Saints Night Out on February 21, 2009. You can donate an item, become a sponsor, host a group event, etc or ask a business owner or someone you know to donate an item or become a sponsor. Time is running out – get those auction donations in by January 11th to be included in the auction booklet! Be creative… maybe you received a Christmas present that you’d like to re-gift (must be new J).  What better way to do that than to donate it to the auction.  You can donate anonymously – we’ll never tell!  If you need a donation form, they are available in the school office or just bring in your donation and we’ll fill out the form for you ~ the Auction Committee
  • Please mark your calendars for the Athletic Committee’s Pancake Breakfast on February 1.
  • Library volunteer needed: Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 11:30 – 2:30 from now until the end of the school year.  Please contact Kim Bobert, Librarian, (507.263.3672) with any questions or interest you may have.

STUDENT NEWS:

  • Open Gym will be Saturdays from 9:30 – 11:00. St. Dominic students in grades 4 – 7 and their older siblings may participate.  Students can play in scrimmages, play Lightning contests, practice shooting and learn more about the sport of basketball.  Mike Kowalewski is generously volunteering his time to organize and supervise these sessions.

THANK YOU:

  • We recently awarded a $500.00 scholarship to a St. Dominic family in memory of a former student, Jake Malecha.  We express our sincere gratitude to Ken and Judi Malecha for choosing to honor their son in this special way.

NOTES FROM THE NURSE:

  • The Minnesota Department of Health requires school nurses to report chicken pox or shingles cases in students and staff.  They also ask us to track the incidence of influenza during the “flu season.”  When calling in your child’s illness, please be specific.  Notes are sent home to the class if strep, chickenpox, “pink eye,” or head lice are reported WITHOUT MENTION OF NAMES.

LITURGY SCHEDULE:

  • The 7th grade will be coordinating Mass on Thursday, January 15th at 8:20.
  • The 6th grade will be coordinating Mass on Thursday, January 22 at 8:20.
  • Students and their families will be asked to participate in the weekend Masses on January 24/25.  This will be a kick-off for Catholic Schools Week.  Thank you in advance for your participation!
