St. Dominic School

Grade 2

Catholic Schools Week is coming.  A big celebration for St. Dominic School, and lots of fun for all.   A schedule of events will be in your communication envelope on Thursday.   There will be a spaghetti dinner on Tuesday night of Catholic Schools Week.  Classrooms will be open for you to visit.

Report cards will be sent home on Thursday.   Please, sign and return it to school next week.

The second grade will be preparing Mass for February 15.

Book orders will be due on February 3.

 

This week in Grade 2

Religion  We will continue our study of the parts of the Mass.   We will focus on the Nicene Creed and the other new words that we are using at church.

 

Reading  We will study the sounds made by the letters ear and eer.  We will also learn about the suffix ly, adjectives, classifying, sequence, and context clues.

 

Math  We are working in Chapter 7 which focuses on charts and tables.  We have completed almost half of our Math book.   Many children are doing so well on the Math timed tests.   Your child should take a few minutes and study the math facts each night.

 

Science  We will study gravity.

 

Social Studies  We will be talking about factories and how they produce goods.

 

Spelling  There will be no spelling words this week.
